ANILOX ROLLERS

The key to sucess of the Anilox system is the engraved rollers. These are manufactured in steel, then copper plated, engraved and hand polished. Finally, they are hard chromed for durability. Life expectancy of a roll is between 30 and 50 million sheet passes depending on type of running and coating used.

The engraved pattern is made up from hundreds and thousands of cells. Each cell contains a predetermined amount of lacquer depending on its shape and size. This, along with the viscosity and solid content of the coating will determine the film weight.

A single roller is capable of giving a variety of film weights with different materials but will only give one film weight with the same material, as long as the viscosity and solid content remain constant. Once a roller has been installed a roll change can be achieved in about 10 minutes.

After numerous successful installations worldwide it has been found that five engraved rollers usually will handle 60 to 70 job specifications, which means you don't need a different roll for each film weight or material.
